Privacy

Favo turns the videos you save into the things you were looking for. This page explains what that means for your data: what we collect, why, who helps us, how long we keep it and how you delete it.

Last updated: 12 October 2026

The short version

  • We do not sell your data. Favo has no ads, no advertising trackers and does not follow you across other apps or websites.
  • We keep what you save so you can find it again. You can export it or delete your account with everything in it, right in the app.
  • To read a video, Favo uses its own software and Google Gemini. Gemini gets the public post, not your account details.
  • Favo never receives your location or your calendar.

1. Who we are

Favo is a service of Ivar Middelveld (trading as WEBR), KvK 83478884, VAT NL003825712B76, Kraloërweg 12, 7935 AA Eursinge, the Netherlands ("Favo", "we", "us"). We are the controller for the personal data described on this page.

This policy covers the Favo iPhone app, its share extension, the Favo web app and this website. Questions or requests: ivar@favo.so.

2. What we collect

Your account

Your email address, how you sign in (Apple, Google or a code we email you), an internal account number and, if you or your sign-in provider share it, your name and profile picture. We also keep your answers from the first screens of the app, such as how you save videos now, how you heard of Favo and, if you add it, your home city. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your real email address. We never receive your Apple or Google password.

What you share and save

When you share a post to Favo we receive its link. We remove tracking parameters from it. We store the link, the item you pick, any note you type, and what Favo finds for you: products, shops, places, recipes and links. For each save we also keep a still image, crops of the items and a copy of the video. We store the collections and lists you make, your shopping lists and recipe edits, what you mark as bought or visited, and whether you tell Favo a result is right or wrong.

Public content of the post

To understand a post, Favo fetches what is public about it: the video, the caption, the creator's name and public comments, including the names of the people who wrote them. We do not read your private messages, your feed or your social media accounts, and we never post anything for you.

Favo+ purchases

Whether you have Favo+, which plan, and your trial and renewal dates, as confirmed by Apple. Apple handles the payment. We never see your card or bank details.

Usage and device information

Events inside Favo, such as a save being made, a result being shown or not found, onboarding screens, the Favo+ screen being shown and, in the web app, a shop or route being opened. With those we keep the app version and a random session number, and the country of your connection, derived from your IP address when the event reaches our server. To keep one-time offers one-time, the app stores a random identifier in your iPhone's Keychain and sends it to us. We do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and do not ask to track you.

Support and feedback

Messages you send us and what is needed to answer them.

What stays on your iPhone

Favo does not use your camera, photo library or contacts.

3. Why we use it

You can object to any use based on legitimate interest. See Your rights.

4. AI and automated analysis

Favo uses its own software and Google's Gemini API to recognise products, places and recipes in a post. Gemini receives the public post: the video with its sound (or frames from it), the caption, the creator's name and the public comments. A large video is uploaded to Gemini only for that read and deleted afterwards; Google removes it within 48 hours in any case. Gemini does not receive your email address, your name or your account number. For image search, still images or crops are sent to the search services listed below.

Results can be wrong. Favo only says Same item when a code, a link or other evidence proves it; otherwise it shows it as a close match, such as Looks like. Favo does not take automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We use these services to run Favo. They may only use the data to provide their service to us.

SupabaseDatabase, sign-in and file storage, in Frankfurt, Germany. All account and save data.
VercelHosting of the Favo web app and API, Frankfurt region. Requests and technical logs.
Fly.ioBackground processing, Frankfurt region. Posts being processed and their results.
HetznerOur own image-analysis servers. Still images and crops from posts.
GoogleGemini API and Cloud Vision for analysis, and Google sign-in if you use it. The public post, images and crops.
Serper, SerpApi, SearchAPI, Brave Search, bol.comSearching for products and places. Search words and links to still images or crops.
EnsembleData, tikwm, TikTok, Instagram, FacebookFetching the public post. The link to the post. When you play a video in Favo, it can stream from the platform's own servers, such as TikTok's, which then receive your connection details like any video player. When a video plays in Favo, it can use the platform's own official player (TikTok, Instagram or Pinterest), which may show its own cookie banner and set its own cookies inside that player. Favo keeps these in a separate store used only for that player and clears them when you sign out or delete your account.
OpenStreetMap (Nominatim)Finding where a place is. The place name and city from the post, and what you type when you search for a place.
OpenFreeMap and NASA (GIBS)Map images for the globe in the Favo web app. They receive your connection details, such as your IP address, like any website.
MapboxMaps and city search in the iPhone app. Mapbox receives what you type in city search and technical connection data, such as your IP address and device type. Favo switches off Mapbox's usage reporting (telemetry); Mapbox still receives the technical data needed to deliver the map, under Mapbox's privacy policy.
ResendSending sign-in codes. Your email address.
AppleSign in with Apple, App Store payments for Favo+, and push notifications (your push token and the notification text).
ShopsFavo reads public product pages and shop catalogues to show products and prices. We send shops no data about you.
CloudflareHosting this website.

Not every service is used for every save. When you open a shop, a social app or a map from Favo, that service receives your visit under its own privacy policy. Shops do not receive your Favo account details from us. If a shop link runs through an affiliate network, that network also sees the click.

Sharing a collection. If you choose to share a collection, it becomes a public page at favo.so that anyone with the link can open, showing your first name and the items in it. You can stop sharing at any time.

We share data with authorities only when the law requires it, and only what is required.

6. Where your data is

Favo's database and files are stored in Frankfurt, Germany. Some of the services above, such as Google, the search services, the video platforms, Mapbox, Resend and Cloudflare, may process data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. When that happens we rely on an adequacy decision of the European Commission, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or on the Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for details.

7. How long we keep it

Your account and savesUntil you delete the save or your account.
Video copy, stills and crops of a saveAs long as the save exists. They are deleted with the save or your account.
Shared analysis of public postsHolds no account data. Kept so the same post does not need to be processed again, and deleted on request.
Usage eventsKept to improve Favo. When you delete your account, we remove your account from them.
Technical logsKept for a limited time by our hosting providers to keep Favo secure and working.
Support emailsUp to 12 months after your question is closed.
BackupsDeleted data disappears from our backups within 30 days.

Images of a save are delivered through direct links. Someone who has the exact link to an image can open it, so do not share private pictures through Favo.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, get a copy, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and take it with you. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

We answer within one month. If a request is complex, we may need up to two more months and will tell you why. We may ask for information to confirm it is you, but we will not ask for a copy of your ID by default.

If you are not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or to the authority in your own EU country.

9. Deleting your account

In the app, open Settings (the profile icon at the top right of Saved), tap Delete account, type DELETE and tap Delete everything. This deletes your account, your saves, collections and files straight away. If you used Sign in with Apple, we also end that link; if that does not work, the app tells you how to remove it yourself in your Apple ID settings. Data in backups is gone within 30 days.

Deleting your account does not cancel Favo+, because Apple manages the subscription. Cancel it first in your iPhone Settings: tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Favo.

Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account. You can also ask us to delete it by emailing ivar@favo.so from the address you use for Favo.

10. Security

We use encrypted connections, keep your sign-in on your iPhone in the secure Keychain, and set up the database so that each account can only reach its own data. Access to our systems is limited to what is needed to run Favo. No online service can promise perfect security. If you think something is wrong, email us right away.

11. This website

favo.so uses no tracking cookies and no analytics. Fonts and images are served from favo.so itself. The Favo web app uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in.

12. Age

Favo is meant for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 16, ask a parent or guardian before you use Favo. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has made an account, tell us and we will delete it.

13. Changes

When we change how we use data, we update this page and the date at the top. We announce important changes in the app or by email before they take effect.
